For Youth

Pre Employment Transition Services (P.E.T.S.)

For students between the ages of 14-21 years of age, P.E.T.S. provides multiple levels of services. This includes classroom training with curriculums focused on several topics such as self-advocacy training, independent living skills training, and work based learning training. This program also allows for individual services including job shadowing with a CESP™ certified Employment Specialist in fields of the student’s interest.  Work based learning experience is another component of the service, allowing students to work 90 hours with paid employment. This experience is intended to develop and apply employment skills.

Community Employment - Choose Your Future

This program provides high school and out of school youth with job readiness and job seeker skills. Job development assistance and job coaching support is provided as needed. Goodwill’s staff works closely with the special education and guidance departments of area school districts, the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation, the PA Career Link and other job training partners. Employment Specialists provide support and assistance to help overcome employment barriers faced by economically disadvantaged or disabled individuals throughout the agency’s eleven (11) county service area of Northeastern Pennsylvania.

S.E.A.L.

S.E.A.L. (Social, Emotional And Learning) is an after school skills development program targeting children ages 6 to 16 with developmental and/or emotional challenges. The program offers an opportunity for socialization and recreation counseling that reinforces positive social skills and a weekly respite for parents/guardians. The program uses evidence based curriculums on anti-bullying strategies and the development of age appropriate social skills. The curriculum emphasizes areas such as getting along with others, avoiding conflicts, and anger management. The program also fosters making healthy choices, citizenship, and introducing job skills to participants.

S.E.A.L. runs extended hours during the summer months.
